The Inner Thought series is a collection of self-portraits that reveal moments of inner emotions, feelings or reactions hidden from the public consumption. The series consists of artwork based on a mindfulness technique aimed at maintaining one's attention to experiences occurring in the present moment. Eckhart Tolle, author of ‘The Power of Now’ refers to it as ‘watching the thinker’, which consciously draws the individual’s acknowledgement when the mind wants to relive the past or imagine a possible future. In a focused effort to capture the essence of this notion, I sought to portray some of these events in a playful manner - the result you see here. The contrast against The Silent Observer was intentional. Painted from life and chasing the light, I was deeply anchored in the blissful present.
