An explorer of the human condition, I use conceptual themes to frame my journey of reflection and then express my interpretation through a series of painted artwork. My perspective evolves throughout the journey of creating themed series’, the overall work taking on a life of its own, much like an image unfolding when adding pieces to a puzzle.
As an artist, I use oil paints to confront complex narratives such as the techno-social dilemma and sociopolitical movements. Additionally, my paintings are often used as a centrepiece to an installation, repurposing familiar objects towards my intention. My mark-making is painterly and gestural while applying saturated colours, inviting the viewer into the picture to gaze at a purposeful brushstroke or mark. Yet it is while stepping back, as I have done countless times while rendering the work, that another image reveals itself. While exploring conceptual themes, my painted subjects - usually figurative - expose their personality and dare the audience to delve into their world.
