Les Rosies

In France, women reappropriated the iconic feminist symbol of Rosie the riveter to protest inequality in the workplace. Wearing blue overalls and red polka dot bandanas, activists marched to denounce pension reforms by the Macron government. The yellow vinyl cleaning glove became a symbol of the extra work and less pay, a common item representing the additional household chores often undertaken by women at the end of a work day. On 8 March 2020, the Rosies threw their yellow gloves on the ground at 15h40, to symbolize the time when women are no longer paid due to the salary wage gap between men and women.
